What are artist trading cards?
Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are miniature artworks of the same size as commercial trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards) (http://www.artist-trading-cards.ch/). They are unique works or small series, signed and dated on the back side. Like commercial trading cards, they are swapped between the people who create them (not sold, there’s no money involved). The project is an ongoing collaborative cultural performance.
For the exhibition Re:Dada people are asked to create ATCs with a reference to Dada. Public Domain – the unrestricted access to artworks whose exclusive intellectual property rights have expired – encourages the appropriation and alteration of historical models. The project is part of the series of actions Re:Publicdomain by Dock18 (http://republicdomain.net/redada/works).
