Smartphones and webcams are ubiquitous and they are used by many people to present themselves to one other. We use them on Facebook, snapchat, WhatsApp and many more social media services. Additionally, crowdsourcing services, understood as platforms that allow people to obtain particular services, ideas, or content through the contributions of a large online community or marketplace transform the way we work.
\nSuch platforms allow us to select an individual to carry out a task for a predefined fee. In the future, artists might also be interested in offering their services over such platforms, and curators accordingly select their artists on such platforms.
\nFor this Dada remix, we used a crowdsourcing platform where people offered to record video testimonials for products and services and sent out some public calls for participation. We asked for performances of the sound poem Karawane by Hugo Ball, which was first performed at Cabaret Voltaire in 1916.
\nToday, Dada is not performed in Cabarets anymore, but rather has become a way to express oneself online. Our curated collection of videos made by the crowd show how Karawane is re-intepreted by crowdsourced people from many different places around the world and in different formats<\/p>\n
