Daniel Boos obtained his PHD in Organization Sciences from ETH Zurich. In recent years, he has increasingly focused on the issue of public domain and has also been actively engaged in various internet policy initiatives, including “Digitale Allmend” or Creative Commons Switzerland.
Under the title “Re:PublicDomain”, together with Mario Purkathofer, he has organized a number of public events on the subject of public domain. His interest is explore and learn how the extensive amount of public domain material can be re-appropriated and re-mixed by contemporary artists. He loves to discover almost forgotten works that enter the public domain every year and therefore can be re-used. He also investigates the friction and discussions that are created through their re-use between artists, galleries, libraries, archives and former right owners. Next to his activities for Re:Public Domain he works for a Swiss telecommunications provider, where he analyzes and creates future work experiences.
