Industriebauern

Georg Scholz - IndustriebauernThe picture of industrial farmers is a deconstruction of the romantic myth of the farmer. Industrial farmers are stultified figures: stingy, hypocritical with bibles in their hands (a priest consecrates the new threshing machine), cruel, out to make a profit (money is growing out of their heads), loyal to the emperor. This is the way Scholz castigates the farmers who only thought of themselves after the world war and deprived the cities of food. Oil, collage on wood, in 1920 Georg Scholz took part in the first international Dada convention in Berlin with the industrial farmers.
