Since the seventies Tony Labat has developed a body of work in Performance, Video, Sculpture and Installation. His work has dealt with the body, popular culture, identity, urban relations, politics, and the media. He has exhibited internationally over the last 30 years, has received numerous awards and grants, and his work is in many private and public collections. Recent exhibitions include PAC, Milano Italy, ASUMuseum, Phoenix, Arizona, Barbara Gladstone Gallery, New York, the 11th Havana Biennale, Havana, Cuba, Gilbert-Anglim Gallery, San Francisco, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center. He’s currently Chair of the MFA Program at the San Francisco Art Institute. He lives and works in San Francisco.
